Grades 1,2,3 classes engaged in their first Destination Imagination challenge on Thursday. Their challenge was to make a house for a mouse. The materials for the house were:
6 paper cups                         4 paper clips
1 elastic band                       1 piece of cloth
                      2 envelopes                          1 paper bag
1 paper plate                        5 mailing labels
3 cotton balls                       4 pipe cleaners

No other materials could be used. In groups of 4, they had to design, build and present their house. Brilliant designs emerged. Some groups thought of entertainment for the mouse and included a satellite and TV, others created a refrigerator stocked with cheese - of course!
The students worked extremely well in teams and displayed the true nature of collaboration.
