Growing Into Grade 2P

Erika and Britten are being like statutes. They have to be or Pigeon will not come out of his house. Pigeon is the Grade 2P's hermit crab. Erika explained that you "have to be very quiet when you are around it. You have to be very still. It only comes out in the night. It plays with a sand dollar. He grabs the sand dollar with his little claws and he likes to nibble on the sand dollar. He eats crab food."

Sully tells us, "He's nice. If we are all quiet, the room is silent he will come out. I don't know why, but he just looks a t certain people. He has a really smooth shell. We have a bigger shell for him when he outgrows his shell. You might find a hermit crab deep down in the ocean where sharks and electric eels are. They live on the ocean floor."

While lying quietly on the rug and Pigeon walking around, Brandt commented that "He looks like Terry Fox, but without the fuzzy hair" I wonder if Pigeon can run?

A wonderful story about Hermit Crabs is Eric Carle's A House for Hermit Crab. We have a few copies of this book in our library, so check it out!
